Liquid Piston Air Compressor

Air compressors are crucial in industries but are only 10-20% efficient, contributing about 10% of global electricity usage. Current methods lead to significant heat losses, wasting energy. The introduction of water as a piston substitute to compress air, minimizing isothermal losses and boosting efficiency. This approach reduces energy consumption, operational costs, and extends equipment lifespan. Water assisted air compression holds potential to revolutionize industrial compressor efficiency, optimizing energy use and performance. This advancement could have a significant positive impact on various industries. The project includes study of Efficiency Losses in a Compressed Air Energy Storage System and the development of an air powered pneumatic tracker with the Research Grant of Rs. 48,000 from KCT’s Centre for exploratory research.
