Sensible Heat Storage System
This innovative system combines a sand battery with a solar concentrator for clean cooking, leveraging sensible heat storage. The solar concentrator collects and focuses sunlight, heating the sand to high temperatures. The thermal energy is then stored in the sand battery, allowing for consistent and controlled heat release. This stored heat is used for cooking, providing a clean and sustainable alternative to traditional fuels.
The system offers a reliable and efficient solution for cooking, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. It has the potential to transform cooking practices, especially in off-grid communities. The project includes study of heat loss in boilers and the development of sensible heat storage system for steam boiler tracker with the Research Grant of Rs. 44,000 from KCT’s Centre for exploratory research.
